Keep It Simple
I feel the need to keep things simple today. Our senses are currently bombarded with huge amounts of information, many peoples’ opinions and lots of instructions for - it seems - every eventuality. We somehow have to process all this extra ‘stuff’ whilst navigating through our own lives, and everything that comes with that. ‘Simple’ it seems is in short supply at the moment.
Yesterday a song started going around in my head that I hadn’t heard or sung for years, but the words seem so very apt:
'Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace'
(Turn your eyes upon Jesus Helen Howarth Lemmel, 1863-1961)

And so today, perhaps if we are able to find somewhere to sit quietly, it would be a good opportunity just to sit and focus on Jesus. Try and put all the other distractions aside for a while and give Jesus the opportunity to encounter you. See if it alters your perspective on things, if it stills your soul and calms your spirit.
Malcolm Duncan puts it beautifully:
Allow the good news of who Jesus is to seep into your soul and to bring rest at the very centre of your being and then allow that to flow out through your actions, priorities and your choices.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed – that exhilarating finish in and with God – he could put up with anything along the way... Hebrews 12:2-3 (MSG)
